Apple Posts Record Quarterly Results
Apple Inc has achieved higher than expected quarterly results thanks to US consumers love for the stylish high tech gadgets of iPhones and iPads that rocketed shares up 8 percent on Wall Street. Recovering from last quarter's rare miss, Apple showed it still had clout, selling 37.04 million iPhones - its flagship product - and 15.43 million iPad tablets, doubling from a year earlier and easily outpacing already heightened expectations for a strong holiday season.
Apple reported a net profit of $13.06 billion, or $13.87 a share, handily outstripping an average Street forecast of $10.16 per share. Apple's revenue leapt 73 per cent to $46.33 billion, handily beating the average Wall Street analyst estimate of $38.91 billion, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
Apple TV
Among the new products mentioned that the late Apple visionary Steve Jobs had left behind was Apple TV - which may seem a strange addition to the Apple family of products at first, but not so if you consider that television sets today are also used to connect to the internet and to view personal photos and video.
Seems that Apple is working with LG to come up with a Super HD OLED screen that is set to go head to head with rival Samsung's Smart TV sets. Rumored to use the new A6 processor that will allegedly be also used for the upcoming iPad 3, Apple TV sets are said to come in 32 - 55 inch screens.

A sad day indeed. Apple co-founder and leader, Steve Jobs has passed away aged 56 after years of public battle with pancreatic cancer and other health issues. Apple issued the statement late Wednesday,

Apple iPhone 4S Launched
To the disappointment of many, Apple presented the iPhone 4S instead of the expected iPhone 5 at the October 4 media event. This explains why the event was held at its headquarters.
The changes and improvements are mostly internal as the iPhone 4S looks exactly the same as the iPhone 4. A major change is the use of 2 antennas that will switch intelligently to send and receive signals, addressing the once buzzing issue of poor reception with the current phone.
Other new features are the 8-megapixel camera, faster dual-core A5 processor, iOS 5, iCloud and Siri intelligent assistant.
Apple iPhone 5 Launch October 4
With the iPad 3 still some months away, attention is now being directed to the expected update of the Apple iPhone 5 next week. News reports say that Apple sent out media invitations on Tuesday for a special event called "Let's Talk iPhone" on October 4.
Industry experts say this will be the announcement and launch for the iPhone 5 which is expected to have some significant new upgrades such as a bigger touch screen, a better antenna and an 8 megapixel camera.
